About the Game

"Adventures and Expeditions by GASLIGHT" is a roleplaying game based on the GASLIGHT tabletop wargames rules by Chris Palmer and Buck Surdu.  The original game allows players to recreate battles between Victorian era vehicles & conveyances driven by steam, clockwork or muscle power, and with traditional historical troops.  A&E zooms in on the men and women of heroic stature allowing the players to follow their adventures both on and off the battlefield.

The rules are designed to be entirely compatible with the tabletop game - it's possible to take an A&EbyG character, throw them into the middle of a battle played out with the regular GASLIGHT rules (or even the upcoming "Battles by GASLIGHT" rules, due for release in March), then go back to A&EbyG to play out the aftermath of the battle.  The game is aimed at wargamers who would like a simple set of rules to allow them to roleplay the events leading up to and resulting from their tabletop games, who would like to see their GASLIGHT Main Characters expand and develop from one battle to another, or for roleplayers looking for a rules-light "Beer & Pretzels" roleplaying game for an evening's lighthearted diversion.

About the Author

Chris Johnston is an IT analyst living in Manchester, England. He has been a wargamer for as long as he can remember, a roleplayer for the last eighteen years. He is the author of the "Road Rage V8" car combat rules (available as a free download on the web at www.cpjohnston.freeserve.co.uk/roadrage). Adventures and Expeditions by GASLIGHT is his first foray into rules publishing and is what happens when you combine a speculative question on the GASLIGHT mailing list, an attack of insomnia and a word processor.
